Woke up around 6:30am, perfect time, took shower and went
downstair where I met two of my colleague from BC, Pat and Keith. We had
breakfast, which is really good with a variety of choices (the fresh slice fruit,
you can ask the fruit chief what type if fruit you like and he/she will slice
fresh fruit while you are standing, was my favorite). The bus came at 8:00am to pick us up and
drove us to the meeting venue, which is located at Rwanda University main campus.
We get registered and have our position, waiting for the politician to come for the
opening ceremony. After a brief opening ceremony was over, I was asked to give
a public lecture in the presence of the politician, which actually went out
good and triggered hot panel discussion right after my talk. So many
interesting presentations and discussion followed my presentation on the same
day
Meeting hall front gate
This is where we will be hiding for the next two weeks.
Lunch! O! Ya! Lunch is provided by the
conference; and I'm afraid that I'll be fat at the end of the school if the lunch
is such a variety of meals everyday. Rwandan eat too much potato (you can find
potato in different form) and banana (not fruit banana but cooked with sauce).
At end of the day, the bus drove us back to our hotel. Have dinner at the same
restaurant, and later Keith and I watched soccer game. The hotel broadcast the
game in a big screen every evening.
